Biotechnology Supports Local Communities

California’s biotechnology industry works proactively with local communities to build trustworthy and sustainable relationships aimed at strengthening and enriching the surrounding community, thereby making it a more desirable place to live and work.

Many of California’s biotech companies have invested in programs that strive to improve the quality of life for those living and working in the community by providing charitable contributions in support of local organizations and events, supporting group employee volunteer activities, and creating programs to meet the unique needs of local communities. In fact, in 2006 alone California biotechnology companies donated $883 million in products to patients and agencies throughout the United States.

California’s biotechnology companies offer a variety of philanthropic programs serving the communities they reside in, as well as the world, including:

  • Medical and science education grants
